Hello!

My name is Judy and I have been offering Reflexology treatments to many adult clients from Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim and Mayo since 2007. My tailor-made techniques have been designed to address symptoms such as stress, anxiety and insomnia associated with ADHD, Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders and anxiety disorders. I have years of experience working with children with special needs and behavioural difficulties and received a business all star award in April 2018 in recognition of my work with children who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Reflexology is important because it can provide a natural and non-invasive way to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and alleviate symptoms of various health conditions. Here are some specific ways that reflexology can be beneficial:

  1. Sleep issues: Reflexology has been shown to improve sleep quality in people with insomnia and other sleep disorders. By stimulating reflex points on the feet, hands, or ears, reflexology can help to calm the nervous system, reduce muscle tension, and promote relaxation, which can all contribute to better sleep.

  2. Anxiety: Reflexology has been found to be effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety and stress. By stimulating the reflex points associated with the nervous system, reflexology can help to calm the mind and body, reduce muscle tension, and promote feelings of relaxation and wellbeing.

Overall, reflexology can be a helpful tool for managing sleep issues and anxiety, as well as other health conditions. However, it is important to note that reflexology should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment and should be used in conjunction with other therapies as appropriate.

My Story

Parents approached me to request a series of treatments for their younger child who was in the Autistic Spectrum. He had exhibited poor sleep patterns, irritability, and poor digestion. I began treatment and immediately discovered the everyday challenges that carers of such children encounter, such as a lack of willingness to engage or sit still for any length of time. It took a number of weeks for me to build up a rapport with the boy and gently extend each session from an initial 10 minutes to a full hour session after a month or so. We began to evidentially notice results! Not only did the boy's mother remark that he was more settled and sleeping through the night for the first time in years, he actually relaxed so much that he fell asleep during treatment!

As a carer, she and her family were now able to get better sleep periods as well and had more energy to deal with daytime challenges as a result.

Word went out throughout the area amongst parents of similar children and I quickly acquired an ever-growing clientele and found similar results with all the children. I subsequently ran a course with the Northern Ireland Autism Association in Omagh, Co Tyrone, and following that secured a regular weekly class with the prestigious Willowbridge (Erne) School in Enniskillen.

Reflexology has now been shown to help reach out to people with intellectual challenges and Autism unlike any other treatment or intervention - for some, it may be the only form of tactile engagement they have with another person.

Listening to some young and articulate adults with Autism on the Late Late Show in 2015, they spoke of how a lot of the time their world is crazy, hectic, and unstructured and how structure, repetition, and regularizing activities can help them deal with the rest of the chaos in their lives. I am happy to see the smiles on their faces, knowing that I have helped to reduce or remove their anxieties and help them find a more peaceful and rewarding life as a result of her intervention.

More recently, I have begun to upskill in SEBD, (Social, Educational Behavioural Development), marrying it with her learnings from the last decade of Reflexology practice & development, to best deliver personal programs for troubled and difficult children, to increase Childhood, Teen & Youth Wellbeing and fight against the plague of recent teenage suicides and self-harm.

Her tailor-made techniques have been designed to address symptoms such as stress, anxiety and insomnia associated with ADHD, down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders and anxiety disorders and she has opened up a path to new treatment areas for Reflexologists to follow.

She has opened the door for qualified reflexologists to approach Schools and Adoption Societies to deliver their Skillset to help alleviate challenges, both physical & mental, for their clientele.

While addressing all the basics in detail on the course, you will also be given amazing insights into how Judy has learned, through painful and joyous experience, to resolve challenges for the most challenged and challenging clients and deliver life-changing outcomes, not just for them, but for their carers and families as well.

Her love and passion for her chosen profession will be clear and infectious and leave you confident and energized to start out on your own reflexology journey.
